Structure of a Window

All windows are very similar in their structure. You have a window containing icons which relate to different parts and functions of your computer. A typical type of window and its functions is shown below:



























If you click on any icon you will open a window relating to it.

The scroll bars only appear if all the items or icons cannot fit into the size of the window. This can be remedied by either rearranging the icons so that they all fit into the window or resize the windows and make it larger so that it can accommodate all the icons. This will be looked at later.

Moving a Window

As long as a window is not maximised, which means it would take up the whole of the screen, you can move it. This is especially useful if you have several windows open and need to organise you desktop or view several windows at a time. The basics of moving a window is shown below:

Moving a Window

Move the mouse pointer over the title bar of the window and left click and hold down the click

Whilst still holding down the left mouse button, move the mouse to a desired position on your desktop.

When the window outline is in the desired position, let go of the left mouse button and the window will move to the new position.
