Hello my name is Shaun White and I'm 18 years old and work as a Design Engineer, half way through a four year Modern Apprenticeship with a world wide engineering company.

My interest in computers only spans two short years and was triggered when I enrolled on a �Build Your own Computer� course at the local college.

From that six month course I successfully built a 400 MHz AMD computer, that I only expected to use for typing up assignments and playing the odd game.......How wrong I was.

I soon began playing around with my new computer, deleting files, executing unknown applications and changing system settings, nine times out of ten I fell flat on my face, regularly having to reinstall programs, including Windows. But by messing about with the computer I was learning an awful lot about how my computer worked, and also what certain files and commands do, and this forms the basis of my knowledge about computers.

It wasn't long before I started adding extras to my computer including memory, CD-RW, floppy, CD-ROM and hard drives, Graphics cards, etc. All the time working with the relatively small amount of knowledge I had gained from experimentation. Soon my reputation had spread and I started fixing friends and family's hardware and software problems, and it was becoming a regular occurrence for me to spend my evenings fixing computers.

As I still learn about PCs I have become intrigued with the workings of computers and software programme�s, this had led me to start learning the programming languages C++, Visual Basic and Java in my spare time.

So why have I set up this web site?
|
|
The answer is that I was being asked the same questions from new computer users time and time again, and all the time they complained that there was no resource that contained the information they needed, without sitting down for hours with a book.
|
|
I had been toying with the idea of setting up a web site but had no ideas what it could be about, the little light in my head lit up, why not design a site about computers for beginners.
|
So I listened to there questions and gripes and set about setting up a web site that could try to answer the questions I was being asked quickly and efficiently without being drowned in computer jargon.
|
Beginpc.com hopefully will answer all the questions you have as a new PC user, and hopefully it will serve as a handy reference to the more experienced user.

This site is my first so please bear with me as I get to grips with the workings of developing a web site.
